The following is the recipe for chili at Firehouse Subs
- Prep Time: 15 Minutes
- Cook Time: 30 Minutes
- Total Time: 45 Minutes
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes (with juices)
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 small green bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 cup beef or chicken broth
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Making Process
- Heat Olive oil over medium heat in a large pot or oven. Add and bake the diced onion and bell pepper for 5 minutes until it becomes softened.
- Add minced garlic and sauté it for 1 minute. Put and break ground beef and turkey into the pot with a spoon.
- Cook it for 8-10 minutes until it converts from pink color to brown and drain extra fats if important.
- Whisk tomato paste, cumin, chili powder, smoked paprika, salt and black pepper.
- Cook it for 1-2 minutes to salute the spices.
- Add diced tomatoes (with juices), kidney beans, and broth to the pot and mix well to combine.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the chili cook gently for 20 minutes, by mixing sometimes.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as per your liking.
